Follow these steps to check for basic connectivity of the wireless network.
Captive portal authentication
Create an Access Code for testing and follow these steps:
- Connect to the guest facing wireless network (SSID)
- Open a browser on the device if it does not automatically open
- The captive portal should load automatically
- On the Last Name/Room Number screen, click I have an Access Code
- Add the Access Code
- Click Connect
You should see a post-authentication page.
General connectivity tests
After you have confirmed captive portal authentication is working as expected, use these tests to confirm general connectivity, video, voice, and audio connectivity to the internet. You may perform additional tests, including logging into email clients or other internet connected apps.
General Internet connection
- Authenticate via the portal
- Open a browser on the authenticated device
- Go to https://www.speedtest.com/ to verify connectivity to the internet
- Run a speed test
You should be able to access the web page and successfully run a speed test.
Video conferencing
- Authenticate via the portal
- Make a video call on the app of your choice
You should be able to successfully place a video call on your app of choice.
Video playback
- Authenticate via the portal
- Open a browser on the authenticated device
- Go to https://www.youtube.com/ to play any video
You should be able to view and hear audio from a video on the web site.
